For children who are looking for a further challenge in maths and so more independent work, I would strongly recommend trying out the Better Maths books, which have been made available free here: https://educateplus.ie/ppresource/better-maths-1st-class The books are chock full of challenging problems ideal for working on with adults through conversation and there are also answer lists available for quick and independent corrections.
