Hello Alex, Broghan, Charlie, Cian, Dean, Elizabeth, Eva, Hallie, Heather, Isobel, Jensen, Maaya, Maci, Matthew, Rada, Sarah, Sofia and Tomass. Sadhbh recorded me reading this story so apologies for the camera work. The other story that Ruadhán filmed is even worse - bopping up and down all over the place. I hope you enjoy! Good morning Room 14 I know this is another week that we have to stay home from school but if we all do what we are supposed to by staying inside as much as possible then we will be back at school sooner than we think. You can ask at home if there are any jobs that you can do. Try to get some exercise each day - you will feel better if you do. The following is a menu of activities. You can do all of them or some of them. There really should not be pressure on anyone to complete work unless it suits your own situation. Let me know how you are all doing by commenting and we can stay in touch that way. Here is a list of things to keep you busy 1. Practice calender questions each day. There is a March and April calender page below as well as questions to answer. 2. Counting practice - count in 2's, 5's, 10's and write them down. Count in 2's as far as 30, 5's as far as 50 and 10's as far as 100. Maybe try counting in 4's (your 100 square will be a big help you could colour every 4th number the same colour) 3. Try the Post Sorting Game on Topmarks.co.uk go to Learning Games and click on addition and subtraction in the 5-7 age category and scroll down to near the end. Don't forget the basketball place value game in Counting category! 4. Master Your Maths daily. 5. Complete 100 square activity posted below. 6, Watch Geraldine the Giraffe video on the ew sound. Log on to galactic phonics and play some ew games. Go to long vowels and scroll down to ew and check out the games and activities there. Revise sh sound - watch Geraldine doing sh and see what you can find around your house beginning with sh. Make a list of what you find and put the words into sentences or draw the items in a copy or onto a page. 7, Write a letter to a school friend that you miss. Be sure to add lots of pictures and lots of colour. 8, Do a tricky words quiz - write out the tricky words from one of the lists below each on a separate square of paper turn them over on the table. Can you say the word when you turn it face it? Put them in a written sentence. 9. Make a list of the signs of Spring and draw a picture for each sign you list. 10. Listen to or read a story and draw or write about your favourite part. Here is a link to a story you can listen to or read or both. https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/school-radio/audio-stories-nature-explorers/z46mjhv 11. Design an Easter Egg - if you can't print the image just draw your own oval. 12. Try drawing an Easter chick. Here is a link to our favourite arthub website https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8V5eBOz19O4 13. Play What's In The Box? with someone in your house HI all
So sorry about the work going up late. There is an option on weebly to publish at a certain time so I set it to publish at 8.30 on Monday 30th - but I forgot to check if it was am or pm!!! It had defaulted to pm so would have only gone up this evening but I have published now. So much for me feeling confident that I was all organised! Let me know how you are getting on Talk later Mrs Farrelly Oh I nearly forgot!!!!!
Don't forget that there will be an hour of school on RTE and on the RTE player each day at 11am https://www.rte.ie/news/2020/0320/1124339-rte-to-launch-school-on-tv-teaching-initiative/ Hello everyone
Just in advance of work going up on Monday I want to remind you of all the activities that you can be doing on a daily basis. 1. Write your news or a diary page - when you are older you will want to read what you wrote about during this very difficult time. So write about what it feels like to be at home, what you miss, what you would like to be able to do and how you are keeping yourself occupied. 2. Do the P.E. workout from 9am to 9.30am with Joe Wicks The Body Coach every morning or as many mornings as you can. 3. Listen to an online story maybe on Oliver Jeffers website or on David Walliams or on BBC website. Just enter audio stories for kids into Google. After you have listened to the story draw your favourite part or write about what happened in the story from the start, the middle and the end. 4. Download Bua na Cainte onto your laptop (that's our Gaeilge interactive activity) - go to www.edco.ie/bua. It's free! And when you are watching and learning make sure you join in with the speaking and words. 5. Go to Starfall or Galactic Phonics website (on galacticphonics.com make sure you click in the top right corner on "visit our old site" that's where the content is all free. 6. Make your 100 square and if you have made it, use it to compose sums for yourself. Go to topmarks.co.uk, click on learning games in the blue banner at the top, then click on 5-7 year olds and then choose your category counting/addition/subtraction/measures/shapes. Look for the Place Value Basketball game in the Counting category. 7. If you have done any cooking write down your recipe. 8. Draw or paint a Spring flower picture. 9. Draw an aerial map of your bedroom. Imagine you are looking down on your bedroom from above like we did with our classroom and with our aerial map of all the buildings on the Ballymun Road up to the police station. 10. Practice the cursive writing of all the letters we have done so far. I will talk to you very soon Stay safe and wash you hands Hugs Mrs Farrelly Good morning class and a big special Happy Birthday to Isobel who should have been at school to celebrate!! |
