We have really enjoyed reading Michael Rosen's "Chocolate Cake". It is so funny and the author himself does a very funny telling of the story which you can find on you tube. We decided to bake our own chocolate cake and it was delicious !! The children worked hard weighing, mixing and baking. And afterwards we wrote about it in our copies.
We collected pine cones from Albert College Park last month on our Winter walk. They were tightly closed so we put them on the radiator and they opened up nice and wide. We needed cotton wool, googly eyes, pva glue and glitter to make them and we think they turned out great.
FACT - Snowy Owls are diurnal they are active in both the day and night.
BOOK - Have you read Owl Babies by Martin Waddell?
We have been learning about the number seven. We made interesting patterns using only seven objects. We made necklaces using sets of seven beads. Look at our work!
We dressed up for Hallowe'en. Some of the costumes were very colourful .... others were scary. We had a great day! A few glamorous witches visited our classroom bringing with them books and potions. They enthralled us with stories of witches and magic. If you look carefully you might spot them in the picures below.
We had lots of fun during our aistear play sessions. The children made a map of the Ballymun Road and then.........had fun playing with it!
We had a lovely morning in the Botanic gardens. We looked at the sculptures and we gathered Autumn treasures. The vegetable garden was our favourite!
We use our shapes and equipment to create new and exciting patterns. Sometimes we copy each others patterns, taking great care to copy the shapes , colours and the numbers.
