In room 16 we love to build and make things. Here are a few examples of our great work.
Operation Transformation in room 2
Here in room 2 we are beginning to get active and eat our fruit and vegetables to make us strong and healthy. We are walking 4 rounds of our school yard, taking part in some dance in class and doing movement breaks throughout the day. We are also taking part in Food Dudes where we eat or taste a different fruit or veg every day. We are doing well and getting our stickers and rewards.
This week we took part in Science Week. We observed other classes and we also did our own experiments. We made a liquid lava lamp, watch food colouring spread through hot and cold water, did a floating and sinking experiment and loads more. Some didn’t go according to plan but some did. Science is fun.
The Garda Station
In October we visited the Garda Station in Ballymun. We had a great time. We walked up to the station with our teachers. We got to sit in a real Garda car and van. We met the guard dog and horses, we even got to try on their uniforms. Some of us even got handcuffed. We had a great day and even got a nice treat when leaving. Here are some pictures from the day.
We spent the month of September settling into our new school environment, learning all about ourselves and getting to know each other. We spent September learning all about Little Red Riding Hood. By the end of the month, the children were very familiar with the story and they re-enacted a scene from the story of the Big Bad Wolf disguised as Grandma. Check out some videos of the children performing this scene below:
As part of the literacy programme in Our Lady of Victories Infant School, junior infant classes receive thirty minutes per week of in-class team teaching. Ms. Brooks and Ms. Stanley come into our class every Monday afternoon and have been teaching us all about our body parts through poems, songs, stories and games. The children really enjoyed the poem that they taught us - check us out on the video below!
In Maths, we have been learning the days of the week, colours, the differences between day and night and ways in which we can sort materials by colour, shape and size. We learned a new song to help us to remember the days of the week - check out some videos below.
