Nature WalkDuring the week when the sun was shining we went for a walk around our grounds. We saw daffodils and crocuses and pine cones. We stopped off at the pond and saw lots of frog spawn. We will visit soon again to hopefully see some tadpoles. Junk ArtAs well as learning about the hairdresser this month we are taking part in junk art designing our own things. Here we are during the process and also some end designs. This month we are taking part in the Hairdressers for Aistear. We are learning all about People who help us. Here we are learning the skills of a hairdresser and as you can see we are all getting great hair transformations.Pancake Tuesday funWe had delicious pancakes for Pancake Tuesday. We had Nutella and sprinkles or lemon and sugar on them. Although most of us chose the chocolate option as you can tell by our faces. Biscuit Decorating Today we decorated some biscuits. We used icing sugar, marshmellows, sprinkles and chocolate chips. They were so delicious. We made 2 one for us and one to share. We all listened super good to Ms Croke when making them and eating them. We had to walk extra slow to our mams in our line so we didn't drop them. Here is the finished product. Finger PaintingToday we decided to get messy and do some finger painting. PatternsToday we made patterns using lots of different materials from the class room. One person closed their eyes and the other made a pattern. Then they had to copy the pattern that was made. We had a lot of fun and worked really hard thinking of new patterns. Here are some examples: We had such fun with Rachel last week with Magic of Music. We all pretended to be lions. We then danced |
September
We spent the month of September settling into our new school environment, learning all about ourselves and getting to know each other. We spent September learning all about Little Red Riding Hood. By the end of the month, the children were very familiar with the story and they re-enacted a scene from the story of the Big Bad Wolf disguised as Grandma. Check out some videos of the children performing this scene below:
As part of the literacy programme in Our Lady of Victories Infant School, junior infant classes receive thirty minutes per week of in-class team teaching. Ms. Brooks and Ms. Stanley come into our class every Monday afternoon and have been teaching us all about our body parts through poems, songs, stories and games. The children really enjoyed the poem that they taught us - check us out on the video below! In Maths, we have been learning the days of the week, colours, the differences between day and night and ways in which we can sort materials by colour, shape and size. We learned a new song to help us to remember the days of the week - check out some videos below.
