1. Story time

2. A Visit from Ellie the Cat!

Dear parents/carers,
Today I am reading a story called Ruby's Worry (by Tom Percival). It uses storytelling to help children understand and deal with worries in a simple and effective way.
There is also a guest appearance from Ellie the cat!
Please look at April 3rd post on my blog 'Mental and Physical Well-being'. Discuss the mood monsters and the following attachments: 'What are My Main Worries', 'My Top Five Worries' and 'I Am an Amazing Person'. These types of discussions will benefit children when done regularly.
Remind them of the four stages of 'I can calm myself down' and encourage them to try a brain break breathing exercise.

 The Cat Family

Can you describe Ellie the cat after watching the story time video? She is part of the cat family and they have certain characteristics. Take a look at the video on big cats.

1.Write out a fact sheet with at least 6 sentences on what you have learned e.g. Lions have light brown fur and a mane. They are the only cats that live in groups.
Use adjectives (describing words) to help you, e.g. fluffy, fast, big, powerful, spotty
2. Write a fact sheet on the top 10 fastest animals in the world too (see video).
3. Draw a cat (see video).
4. Click the link below and listen to the story The Tiger Who Came To Tea (by Judith Kerr). This is on the literacy support section of the school website. Learn about Judith Kerr and then try out the quiz.
