Length measures how long something is. Have you anything at home that measures length?
Today I want you to use any items you can find- for example- straws, paper, pasta, lego etc- to measure how long 5 items are in your home! Here are some pictures of what I measured this morning and the items I used to measure.

When Measuring:
1. Make sure you line up what you are measuring with beside each other- i.e there should be no gaps.
2. When recording what you have measured, make sure to include what you measured with. For example:

My table is 7 straws long.
My finger is 2 lego pieces long.
My hand is five lego pieces long.

3.Make sure you start at the very edge of one end and finish at the other end to get the full length of the item you are measuring.

Thank you,
Ms. Hiney

Welcome back Ms Hiney! Welcome back boys and girls. I enjoyed the photos of Mayo Ms Hiney. I have a challenge for Room 9! On the website, find the picture of an old microphone. Next, ask the adults and children in your home to turn off all the noise..radios, tv...listen to Charlotte from Room 17. She and her Mammy prepared a wonderful piece online...my favourite bit is at the end. What do you think? Ms McDonnell
