English

 - Dictation
- Blending
- Rhyming

You will need:
  • whiteboard
  • whiteboard pen
  • cvc word and picture matching worksheet
  • pencil
  • colours

We are going to write some 3 letter words (cvc) together. I will show a picture or something, see if you can sound out the word and write it on your whiteboard.

Now take out your CVC word and picture matching worksheet. Match the pictures with the correct words and colour. Who can make the most colourful worksheet. Send me a picture or video of you with your completed work to Sile.mcsweeney@gmail.com. If you are happy for me to share the pictures on the blog let me know. I am loving all the pictures of work I have received so far!

Let's have a little practice of our reading. Sound out the words and say them out loud when you know them. :)

To finish off our English for today we're going to have a little bit of rhyming fun. Can you help me to figure out the words that rhyme with the picture? As something extra see if you can find another word that rhymes too.

Maths

-Sorting
-Subitising

We have done lots of sorting in class this year. Can you find some random items at home to sort. We are looking for our maths language here so try to get your children to use full sentences when answering the following questions.
  • How did you sort? (colour, type, size, shape)
  • How many sets are there altogether?
  • Which is your biggest set? Which set has the most?
  • Which is your smallest set? Which set has the least?
  • How many are in this set? (count out loud/ move items when counting)
  • Are there any sets that have the same amount of items?
I would love to see pictures or videos of the children sorting at home. Please send them on to me if you get the chance. If I can share them on the blog let me know in the email.

Can you sort the same items in a different way? Give it a try!

Subitising

You just need yourself and your brain for this one. So sit back, watch the video and join in when you can. You have to guess the number of dots on the flashcards I will show you. ARE YOU READY?

Hello Ms Mc Sweeney, girls and boys. I know you are misding your playdates, school and of course Ms Sweeney. I hooe you are all safe and warm and happy. If you have a few brothers and sisters, it can be hard to have kind hands, kind feet, kind words and hearts all the time! Sharing a tablet or phone or computer, while an adult is with you, can be tricky! So we understand. Please get fresh air with your family when you can. I was checking the school today and it was so strange not to hear fun and laughter . We will be back when it us safe, buzzing around like happy bees in our wonderful OLV hive. Ms McDonnell
