Let's start our day with some phonics. Let's practice:
  • Reading words
  • Dictation (writing the sounds you hear)


​Wild Animals

Our new topic this month is animals! We are going to start by looking at wild animals. Can you think of any wild animals? Have you ever seen any wild animals? Where would you go if you wanted to look at wild animals?

*Have a listen to the book Dear Zoo below.
Oral Language Lesson
Look at the animals below and try and answer some of these questions:
*Take your time with the first 3 points. Practice each animals name slowly, clearly.
  • Can you name each animal? (one word: tiger, camel etc)
  • Can you name each animal using the sentence: This is a _____.
  • Can you say something about each animal? Describe it.
    • The tiger has stripes.
    • The camel has humps.
    • The cheetah has spots.
    • The elephant has a trunk.
    • The flamingo is pink. 
    • etc.
  • Which animal is your favourite? Why?
  • Which animal is your least favourite? Why?
  • Which animals have a beak?
  • Which animals have fur/ feathers?
  • Which animal has tusks?
  • Which animals have sharp teeth?
  • Which animals are related to cats?
  • Which animals like the water?
  • Which animals like the hot/cold?
Find the animal. Quiz!

*For fun. Come back to at any time. Think of your own questions to add in.

  • Find the animal that lives in Australia.

  • Which animal is the fastest runner in the world?

Look at the picture below and answer the following questions.
  • Who is first in the line?
  • Who is second in the line?
  • Who is last in the line?
  • Who is behind the giraffe?
  • Who is behind the hippopotamus?
  • Who is in front of the dog?
  • Who is in front of the polar bear?
*Other questions: Who is in what place in the line (first, second, third, fourth, fifth). Who is behind/ in front of each animal.
