The Lion

Where does the lion live?
  • The lion lives in Africa
What does the lion eat?
  • Lions eat meat. They are carnivores. They eat other animals: antelopes, buffaloes, zebras, elephants, rhinos, hippos, wild hogs, crocodiles and giraffes. 
What does the lion look like?
  • The lion has a golden yellow coat, 4 strong legs, a tail, and the male lion has a mane.

5 Cool Facts

1. The lion is known as the 'King of the Jungle' because it is the top predator.
2. Lions live in groups called prides.
3. The female lions do most of the hunting.
4. Lions are the laziest of the big cats and can sleep for 16-20 hours a day!
5. A lion's roar can be heard up to 8km away!
