So we got off to a flying start this week. We learnt lots of new colours, rhymes and stories. Below are just a few snap shots of what we got up to. Click on any image to enlarge.

All the girls and boys had great fun learning all about Little Red Riding Hood and her unfortunate encounter with a horrible wolf! Above the children are putting sequence cards in the correct order. (pre-reading skill)

Over the last two week the children have been revising the colours red and yellow. They got to mix them in this painting activity and were delighted to see the created a whole new colour!! Orange! Check back next week to see their finished piece of work.

This month the children are learning all about the home and family. Wherever possible we encourage the children to learn through play based methodologies (Aistear). This gives them an opportunity to use all the vocabulary and learning from their formal lessons and apply it to their child-led play. This is so much fun for them and they love it!
Above is some cutting and sticking we did too, our red ladybugs. Also a matching activity which helps the children recognise the rhyming sounds in words (pre reading skills)

Look at this crazy looking carrot!! :)

I see children have a lot to play with and the game with different colours of paint made them very happy :)
