I was given loads of apples by a friend from their farm so I decided to stew them outside and let the children taste! The boys and girls were busy writing and reading as I cooked and they enjoyed watching the apples turn to puree. The children were really good at being careful around the stove and came up to look and smell one at a time.It was so lovely to be able to use the garden where we planted the grass seed.
​Most children gave a thumbs up to the flavour.

She shared lots of interesting facts about the creatures and plants which make their home in the park. We had to go on a hunt to find clues and see if we could locate animal trails, certain plants and trees.

I hope you are all doing ok with the Covid restrictions. I know everyone must be really feeling it at this stage and it is hard to keep smiling especially with the thoughts of what Halloween and Christmas might look like for us. On the plus side we are still at school which is brilliant and long may it last!
The boys and girls in Room 12 are enjoying their morning Maths activities. We are at the beginning of our journey of the big numbers. At the moment we are working in the range of 1 to 30 and each month we will move up another decade so that by May next year we will be comfortable working within 100. I cannot over emphasise how important daily counting is. Counting forwards and backwards is something the children should be able to do without even thinking about it. Counting backwards is always more challenging as they try to think of what comes before 31 and then before 30 so lots of practice needed. If your child is confident in a lower range feel free to go higher.

They will be able to watch the fruits of their labours as the grass grows up and then they will get to play and work in the area.

Jigsaws are one of the best activities for spatial awareness, concentration, hand eye coordination, stress release, fine motor skills and teaches perseverance and persistance of sticking with an activity and the joy of putting in the final piece.

This is Ms Farrelly here and I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to be back in school. It is so fantastic to see the children back and behaving as if they were never away. Long may it last!
I am sorry that I cannot speak to you properly at the moment but please feel free to contact Gwen in the office if there is anything concerning you or anything you think I need to know. The children have settled incredibly well and are having great fun learning, playing and getting to know me over the past seven days. I look forward to many school days with them.
