Counting practice is a daily activity that you can complete with your child at home. The children are used to counting forwards and backwards from 0-100. They are also familiar with skip counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. We were due to start skip counting by 4's so this is something they can practice at home. The videos below should help with this activity Counting by 2'sCounting by 5'sCounting by 10'sHi guys Here is a nice activity for you to do. There are two steps involved. You already know that a noun is a person, a place or a thing. We made lots of lists of nouns and named heaps of them. So you firstly have to go around your house or garden and find all the nouns you can. You can print the noun hunt page that is attached here or draw your own with three categories one for person/people, one for place and one for things/objects. That's step 1. Now what I want you to focus on are our adjectives. Can you remember what an adjective is? Yes that's right it is a describing word. It describes a noun. So the "fluffy dog" fluffy is an adjective because it describes the dog. Now for all the nouns that you have found try to think of two adjectives to describe them. Remember we did this when we played the Grannies Candies game and also when we described the snake in our phonics book. Hello boys and girls
I hope you are all doing ok. Did you manage to make your hundred square? If you did you can use it to make sums each day for yourself. pick a starting nunber (or roll two dice like we do in class and choose which 2 digit number you want to use) say 34 and add 10 or 20 or 30 to it by jumping downwards on your square. So 34 add 20 is two jumos of ten which lands us on 54. You can do take away too by jumping up 10 or 20 or 30 on your square. If you want to challenge yourself add on a number that has tens and units like we started to do in our lessons. So 38 add on 25 means starting at 38 jumping down 2 tens then adding 5 units. Write your sums down I will love seeing them when we are back together. Take care Mrs Farrelly Hello again everyone
So we won't be back to school next Monday unfortunately so we will have to keep doing our own work in the meantime. Every couple of days you could write your news, starting with the day and date and the weather. Then write a line or two about what you are doing or something you did the previous day. I really like when Sadhbh draws a picture and writes a sentence about it. If you are reading a book you could draw your favourite part or write about why you liked the book or the story so much. And keep on reading guys - it is the best thing you can be doing. And draw lots of pictures. I might make a little video of me witb Ruadhán and Sadhbh to say hello to you all. STAY SAFE AND WASH HANDS Mrs Farrelly https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/school-radio/audio-stories-olivias-first-aeroplane-ride/zrs2wty This is a lovely story about a girl's first trip on an aeroplane. Here are some questions about it. Listen and see if you can remember the details. What time did Olivia have to wake up at? Was she happy to be going to the airport? How do you know? What did they do when they arrived at the airport? What did Olivia bring witb her? What did her Dad call the people working on the plane? What did Olivia ask Michael for? What was the blanket like that Michael brought? Why did people clap when they landed? Did Olivia enjoy the flight? How do you know? I made a 100 Square with my daughter! Why don't you try making your own one? Maybe use a cereal box or a piece of paper?
Maybe your parents could help you with drawing the grid of 10 squares across and 10 squares down big enough for you to write your own numbers. The first row has numbers 1 to 10, second row 11 to 20, third row 21 to 30 and so on. Rows going down should have numbers which all end in the same digit so 1, 11, 21, 31, 41 etc Hi Room 14
Sorry I have been trying most of the morning to put up this post about making a 100 square. I have written it 3 times and still no luck. I rang Miss Murray who is going to have a look and see if something is wrong. Talk soon Mrs Farrelly Here are the maths pages for this week. The children can complete this work on a sheet of paper; writing the number and answer to each question.
Hello again Room 14
I found a lovely story called Shelly and Pebbles about two donkeys that you can have a listen to and then see if you can say or write the answers that I write here. https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/school-radio/audio-stories-shelly-and-pebbles/zhd4bdm Where were the two donkeys going? Why? What was the weather like? How many donkeys were in the other groups? Who led the way home? What did the Donkey Man forget to do? Why did he leave them? What problem did Pebbles and Shelly face? How did they fix the problem? What is the moral or lesson of the story? |
