Hi Room.8,

It's your last week of Senior Infants and my last post to you! I have really enjoyed teaching you all. I will remember you as the class who transformed me into a full-time blogger.....for a few months!😄

Many thanks to parents, carers and students for your hard work and dedication throughout the school year. I appreciate all the emails and blog comments too.

This week's blog has a mix of fun activity sheets and videos. As always, some sheets can be copied by hand or done in your own style.

Sending best wishes to Matas and Summer, who celebrate their birthdays this week! Summer celebrates it today and Matas on Friday.

Water Safety

Check out the Water Safety Ireland website and follow the PAWS (Primary Aquatic Safety Programme) for Junior/Senior Infants. There are various lessons, games and activities to choose from. Please discuss the videos, spot the dangers on the poster and use the attachment to help design a water safety poster.

Dance

Our school was selected to take part in the Creative Schools project. We will be exploring different aspects of creativity, including dance. Good morning parents/guardians,

In line with school policy for the remainder of the term, content will be posted every Monday only. This will follow a similar timetable to the remaining three weeks in school, e.g. revision of topics, greater emphasis on outdoor activities, playtime and physical education. The content is suggested work only, so please do whatever suits your circumstances. School books will also help with revision and finishing off topics. Excuse the delay, due to video upload speed!

If you would like to try a challenging tricky word dictation, use the last 10 words under the 'Blue Level' worksheet. Otherwise, listen back to previous videos for easier dictations.

This week's letters are l, t, i and j. These are part of the 'wave letters' group, due to their wave curve formation. Look at the first two videos on individual letters before watching the video on workbook pages.

1. Make your own calendar for the month of June.
2. Colour the boxes in the following colours: Sundays- blue, Mondays-yellow, Tuesdays-green, Wednesdays-purple, Thursdays-orange, Fridays-brown, Saturdays-pink
3. Try to give full answers to the following questions:
Which day is today? What day comes before/after that day?
What is the month/year?
What is the full date today? (The date is June 8th, 2020.)
How many Mondays are in June?
How many Wednesdays are in June?
Which season is it?
What is the weather like today?
When does the weekend start?
How many days are in a week/this month?

Can you name the months of the year?

4. Answer the attached addition worksheets. These have addition up to 100, if you like a challenge!

Welcome back Room.8!

Hope you had a lovely weekend. Maybe some of you spent time at the beach recently, like Mickey Mouse and Pluto! I would like you to write a few sentences about a visit you made to a beach. You can also pretend that you visited one, or describe the Disney picture like in my example below.

I will announce the winners of the table competition tomorrow, so today is the last day for entries. Write your entry (favourite song and/or movie, with table name) in today's comment section. The following are the latest results:

Telling the Time

In Senior Infants, students learn to read time in one-hour intervals. If they are familiar with this, try reading to the half-hour for a challenge. I have included videos and worksheets regarding o'clock and half past. The worksheets go from Level 1 (easier) to Level 3 (more challenging). Please complete pg.34 of your workbook Busy at Maths.

Room 16 have become expert movers over the past few months! We have settled into our new classroom and are ready to share all our news from Term 1 so far.

Room 16 are a friendly group of children, each displaying their own unique talents. Teacher is looking forward to more great ideas, everyone trying their best and FUN TIMES in the months ahead!
