Happy Monday everybody, I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I spent the weekend doing little jobs around the house. One thing I am very happy with is we finally sorted out our gallery wall of all our pets. Have a look and see all the animals in my family 🥰 Now I would love to know what you all got up to this weekend. I have provided a template for you to use but you are more then welcome to do this activity in a copy or on a blank page. Today we are adding a few new words to our topic and we have a new song parents you will be delighted to know it has the same tune as the last song (sorry). For today’s maths lesson, I would like you to visit the additional support Section of the blog. There are lots of new activities here that I would love the children to do.

Happy Friday everybody, I hope you all had a lovely week. Enjoy the weekend and I will see you all next week for some more fun online learning. Update on our plants!Look at how much the seeds have grown in the last two days!!!! I will take a video for you next week so you can see for yourselves. WOW WORKCalendarHandwriting LessonAs we have completed all of our lower case and upper case letters, we are now going to do a handwriting lesson once or twice a week in which we practise writing sentences, today’s lesson is a simple news lesson. We all write the first two sentences and then you come up with your own third lesson. Story Time: Picture Book FridayMathsFor today’s math lesson I have provided a game board for working on our adding to bigger numbers up to 30. I have also provided a number line, remember start on the bigger number and then add on the smaller number. You can use lots of strategies for this count on in your head, empty number line, jumps on the number line or drawing pictures. If you are finding this too hard change the sums.
Happy Friday DanceGood morning everybody and happy Thursday. CalendarDictationStory TimeGaeilgeIn today’s lesson we are going to quickly revise the words from our first video, then I will be introducing some new words and then we will be learning a song with these words in it. There is also an optional colouring page. MathsFor today’s maths lesson I have posted a few counting games where you can pick the level for the children. All of these games are from the website; https://www.topmarks.co.uk/ Art LessonToday’s lesson is based on a story. Watch the story below. This website has lots of discussion topics based on this. https://readandcreate.co.uk/the-dot-by-peter-h-reynolds/ it goes through the pictures and then has some questions at the end. This worksheet came from a book called The Great Isolation, which was created by two teachers, I have linked it below if you want to have a look some of the pages might be handy as an extra activity throughout the next few weeks.
Happy Wednesday everybody. I hope you all enjoyed the video message from all of us in OLV. If you didn’t see it, it’s on the news page. Before we begin our day!Yesterday one of our friends had their 6th birthday, I hope you will all join me as I say a massive HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ruby!!🎈🎈🎈 She celebrated by having a teddy party!🧸🧸 lets all do the birthday dances to celebrate! CalendarDictationMathsToday’s maths lesson is another target board, remember you don’t need to print anything and you don’t need any paper just answer the questions orally. The idea behind these target boards is to get the children thinking about number and maths but also to help develop their mental maths strategies. You are more than welcome to ask other questions about the target boards. You can use them as game boards or ask the children to put so many pieces of pasta on each square. SPHEI came across some photos of our class while helping with the message video for you all and it made me quite upset because I miss you all and I miss our classroom so today I thought we would focus on this and try and turn them into positive thoughts.
Dance and Movement BreakStory TimeWriting Choice BoardThis is now our 3rd week of the writing choice board, so you know what to do pick 1 of the options you have yet to try. Next we are going to be working on Empty Number Lines again, this time with some bigger starting numbers and really focusing on getting the right strategy. After the video I will post the answers so you can reflect on your number line and check the answer. Don’t forget to check out Ms. Stanley’s new activity using an arithmetic rack in the support section, I’ll leave a link below. Story TimeDance and Movement BreakEnglishWe are going to start with an Oral Language poster, look at the picture and use the second photo for questions and activities to go with the poster. No paper or pencils required. For today’s English we are taking inspiration from The Twits, these activity pages are from Jarrett Lerner’s website and he has so many awesome activities on his website so check it out. https://jarrettlerner.com/activities/ you can do these on a blank page.

I have a little surprise for you all, my dad has been busy working away during quarantine and he has made something special for our classroom. I am so excited to show you it all when we get back but for now here are some photos. Our new wooden houseMeet my dad Seán, 😃 he is a very talented artist and loves to paint and as you can see he is also very talented with woodwork. I asked him would he make a new house for our classroom that would be slightly bigger to fit all the furniture and look at the amazing house he came up with. I love it!!! 🥰❤️ It even has a cat in the window! I can’t wait til we can all play with it. Maths CalendarToday’s calendar is a little different, below you will find a picture of the month of May and some questions about it. These can be done orally or if you choose you can write the answers on a blank page. This is a nice activity to get the class familiar with the calendar.
English: AdjectivesAdjectives are describing words, we use them in our writing to help describe what characters look like or what a scene looks like. Below I would like you to create your own character, it can be a person, superhero, monster, alien, made up creature, animal what ever you would like or it could even be a character we already know about, once you have drawn a picture you are to think of a few adjectives that describe it. I did a sample for you below.

You can still use the same template or a blank page or copy page is perfect. I must say all your dictation that I’ve seen has been brilliant. Keep up the good work Room 10. ☺️ HandwritingMathsDance and Movement BreakSese: MagnetsFor a little science lesson today you will need a fridge magnet. If you do not have one which I’m aware lots of houses might not then you can put what you think might be and we can check what everyone got (or skip this lesson). so below we have a little page spilt in 2. Things that are magnetic and things that are not magnetic. Using your fridge magnet I would you all to walk around your home and test out where the fridge magnet sticks and where it does not. Then draw your answers on the page.

Story TimeToday’s story time is a bit different, we only have a few chapters left which I will be reading for you all on Wednesday and Thursday. For today I would like you to draw and write about your favourite part of the story so far. You may want to listen back to a few chapters if you have forgotten. Can’t wait to see them all.
GaeilgeFor our Gaeilge lesson today we will be focusing on a question we have had plenty of practice with in class. Is maith liom ( I like) and ní maith liom ( I do not like). For this activity the children pick two tv shows one they like and one they dislike. They draw a picture of each.
