Oral Language Challenge

If anyone else would like to send me on a video of your child telling me about their favourite wild animal, please do. I would love to see them. I'm going to put them all together later so that the children can see each other speaking about their favourite animals. They learn so much from their class mates.

If you didn't see this yesterday, record your child telling me a few facts about their favourite wild animal. It can be one we have covered or something different.
send to [email protected]

*It doesn't need to be learned by heart you can ask them questions and prompt them in the videos, I know some people can get shy in front of the camera. If they really don't want to don't worry. It doesn't have to be done, just for fun!

5. An ostrich has no teeth! It eats sand and pebbles to help grind up the other food.
6. An ostrich can run very fast up to 45mph. It is the fastest land animal on two legs!

Let's Write About the Ostrich

We have been doing lots of drawing and labelling and that is fantastic. If we were in school I would be getting you to try a sentence or two if you were able.

Have a look at one of the animals covered this week and try to write a simple sentence or two. You don't have to draw a picture but if you like drawing please do.

I've made two videos below for examples (you don't have to watch both). You can do something similar or do your own one that's completely different.

*This may be a little tricky for some so give lots of encouragement! Remember we are still only learning and the most important thing is that we try our best.

Monday - Week 4

Welcome back everyone! I hope that everyone had a nice Easter. We are back to our online learning! I will have something up each day, I hope that you will engage with it as much as you can at home. Please send me on any pictures, comments or suggestions of things that would be helpful to cover.

PE

Let's start off our Monday with a bit of movement (or do it later in the day if it suits you). The video on the left has lots of movement and on the right is a nice relaxing story.

English

I haven't heard from you all in 2 weeks! So I am dying to hear all of your news. Can you tell me 3 things that you did over Easter?
Focus on who, what and where:
  • Who was there?
  • What did you do?
  • Where were you?
Can you draw me your news. Try and add 3 labels and tell me all about it if you can.
Let's practice some of our sounds, read some words and practice our tricky words.
The second video we are going to sound out and write some words.

Maths

Hi everyone! I hope everyone has been enjoying the sunshine the last few days if they can get out for a short period of time. I have just been going through all of the fantastic work that you sent me last week and I am amazed!! I thought you might like to see some.

Writing!

I knew that Room1 were getting really good at their handwriting in school and I am so happy to see how much hard work they are all putting in to keep practicing at home! Look at this fantastic writing!

Drawings

We are authors and illustrators here in Room 1! Which means we love drawing pictures and labelling them as best we can! This is really important and will lead to us writing stories in the next little while so encourage this as much as you can at home! Be as imaginative as you wish!

Maths!

Everyone was doing such fantastic maths work at home last week! It looked like it was loads of fun! Hopefully it wasn't too messy!

Other Super Work!

Well done to all of the hard working boys, girls, Mammys and Daddy's in Room 1! I really appreciate all of the hard work you are doing! I hope you are all getting to enjoy the Easter Break a little bit!
