Good morning boys and girls, I hope it is a bright, sunny day in Dublin today! I find it much easier to get through the day when it's nice outside, it puts me in such a good mood! Today will be our last 'full day' of school at home, as tomorrow we are finishing for our Easter holidays. I will try and find some fun activities for you to do tomorrow :) I can't believe we are almost finished our 3rd week of school at home, it's really flown! I hope you are all enjoying the the blog and it is great to hear from so many of you in the comments section, keep it up! Now, let's see what I have planned for us today.
English:
  1. Sounds, word lists, reader, tricky words.
  2. Blending (see video 1 below)
  3. Handwriting - again, you will not have a printed practice page. Parents may draw up their own version of a practice page similar to previous ones, or simply practice writing the letter on a blank page, white board or copy. The main thing is that they are practicing the formation of the letter!
  4. Writing Workshop:
  • Mini - lesson (see video 2 below)
  • Independent writing (child engages in their own work)
  • Shared session - child shares what they have drawn and written to a family member. **Idea**: you can record them explaining their picture - they love watching themselves back and also it invites to child to self-assess.
Maths:
  1. Counting practice - stamping 1-20, snapping backwards 10-1.
  2. Days of the week - yesterday, today, tomorrow
  3. Role play - I have taken a page from the children's Maths book below. It is not necessary to print this out and complete, but to try engage in some sort of role play activity - where the children will try and buy the items and figure out what coins they need.
  4. Written work - pg 113 from work pack. You may have a little practice first adding some of your toys, coins, spoons etc.!
