Yesterday the boys and girls learned about the rules for different parts of the yard. They learned about sanitizing before and after yard, running in the cones area, walking in the playground area and sitting down properly on the slide and seesaws. Well done room 4!
A big welcome to all of the boys and girls in room 4 this year. Well done on settling in so well during our first few days at school-look at the wonderful work they have produced already! Please come back to our blog for more pictures from our class in the coming weeks.
Yesterday, room 4 went to the pond beside the boy's school. Mairead Stack and Emily helped us with pond dipping- finding and identifying animals in the pond water! We found water bugs, snails and tadpoles. One of the tadpoles has already grown legs and is turning into a froglet! Hopefully we will see lots of frogs hopping around OLV soon!
Room 4 went to Red Mountain Farm for our school tour last week. We went on tractor rides, played in the playground, saw the crops growing and met the farmer! We also saw lots of animals- bunnies, chickens, roosters, goats, cows, sheep, donkeys and puppies! We had an amazing day.
Thank you to first class in room 15 who have been helping us with our reading on Fridays. We are getting better at reading, well done room 4!
The boys and girls in room 4 have begun writing workshop. During writing workshop time, we have a mini-lesson with teacher to learn about our new skill for the day, independent writing time when teacher conferences with boys and girls about their writing, and share time where the boys and girls share what they have written with the rest of the class. Writing workshop is a great time to practice using all of the letters and sounds we have learned this year to make our own stories. We keep our stories safe in our writing folder, but some of the stories are displayed on the junior infant corridor outside of room 3- come and look!
Happy Easter from the bunnies and chickens in room 4! Thank you to the parent's association for running a brilliant Easter egg hunt.
