Sunflower Day

Thank you to Ms McDonnell for organising our annual sunflower planting. The children always enjoy it! They brought their sunflowers home today so just remember to keep them watered and on a sunny windowsill. As the get bigger you can transplant them into your garden or to a bigger pot. Make sure to take photos of your flower as it grows super tall and show us in school.

Spring Clean in Rm 5!

This week flew by! We got new blinds in our room so we took advantage of having to move everything to give our room a big spring clean! I am happy now that the room is back to normal, with a few little changes. Here is a sneak peek at our relaxation garden. They children will enjoy this area for their DEAR time.

Animals

We are coming to an end of our animal topic. Here the children are sorting the animals into groups of domestic or wild animals. We also labelled the parts of the different animals. We discovered that some animals have fur, wool, feathers and scales. Lot's of the animals have tails.

Fun in Rm 5!

As we start the last term of Junior Infants, I find myself thinking just how far we have come since September and how hard each child has worked. The hard work is done and your children have become real little achievers! You should be
very proud of them! Enjoy the long weekend.

Kind Regards,
Ms Murray

Happy Easter from Room 5!

Great fun was had by all at todays Easter egg hunt. Thank you to all the parents who got involved and made it special for all the children!

Maths

We had great fun playing our maths games... it was noted how good the children are at turn taking, something many children find challenging. Well done boys and girls! Maybe you can play some board games over the holidays with your family and show them how good you are!

PE

This week we worked on balance and team work. The children had to make it across the swamp without falling into the it and being eaten by the swamp creatures. We lost a few toes and legs along the way but most managed to make it across intact. Great fun and giggles all round!

Yoga

The children enjoy another Yoga session. They are really mastering some complex moves here! I was impressed...
If you fancy giving it a go yourself over the holidays you can click for CosmicYoga here!

Easter Art

We did some lovely Easter art this week... We used oil pastels to make these cute easter chick eggs. We explored how smudging the oil pastels allows us to blend different shades together to create a more colourful and vibrant picture.

Reading and Writing Progress

Picture
We didn't get as much DEAR time in as we would have liked this week but we'll get back on track after the hols. I'm sure you were all delighted with the writing copies that went home on Tuesday. The children have been working really hard. I try to encourage them to have their own notebooks at home and to write whenever the get the chance... lots of lists, letter, small notes, stories and even labelling their pictures will dramatically improve their spelling, reading and writing.

Homework

Great homework this week... hope you enjoyed the poem! Lots a lovely colouring in and some lovely easter eggs. It's really good to see the children take ownership of their homework, this will stand to them as they move up through school. As I say to the children, if they want to get good at something, they have to put in the work and plenty of practice.

That's it for this week... I'm going to clock off to enjoy my holidays! But before I do I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the parents for signing the yellow forms, I really appreciate your support! Have a great break... see you all back for the last term on the 24th!

Regards,
Ms Murray
