Board of Management Parent Representative
HSLC
Parents and Teachers are partners in education and our Home School teacher is Ms Lorna Murphy. Her role is to support parents, help with their concerns and to encourage active participation in education. Please click here for HSLC page.
Learning
We encourage parents to be involved in the programmes which support the children’s learning in all areas. We involve the children in structured programmes such as Jolly Phonics, Guided Reading, Reading Recovery and Maths Recovery.
We also have a Bedtime Story Club, a well stocked library and involve parents in Shared Reading programmes.
Behaviour
Children are expected to be respectful and caring to each other and to the staff of the school.
They should obey school, class and yard rules and co-operate with staff.
Bullying is not tolerated in our school.
We are committed to developing a positive school climate, ensuring a safe and caring environment which promotes personal growth and develops positive self-esteem.
Illness
If your child is sick please do not send him/her to school. Take your Doctor's advice regarding rashes or infections.
Swimming
Swimming lessons are held the Ballymun Leisure Centre on Fridays from 2.15 pm - 2.45 pm. These are available on a first come first served basis.
Gardening
We encourage our children to grow bulbs, sow seeds and generally to appreciate
their environment.
Our Parents' Association welcomes new members and is particularly interested in having parents of Junior Infant children involved. They are supportive of all school activities (e.g. drama, outings, parents' meetings, school celebrations etc).
The Teachers greatly value their practical support.
All text books and workbooks are for sale at the school. We operate a book rental scheme which reduces the costs for parents. This has been very successful over many years. We take a deposit at the Parents’ Meetings in April & June and the remainder must be paid at the beginning of September.
You will find more information about the school day on our School Routine page.
