Hi boys and girls. Sorry Here's my video now. I had a few issues earlier and a shortened version uploaded.

Happy Birthday Emma! Hope you have a great birthday on Sunday! Super Seven! English I hope you are going to have a go at your spellings today (in the weekly timetable). All you need is a pencil and paper and a family member to call out the spellings. Write today's date 23/4/20 and number your spellings 1 to 10. As always with our Friday quiz there is no pressure. Have a go! Bain triail as! Maths Have a go at the Master Your Maths Friday Test (Scroll down below the weekly timetable). I was in school today and met some of the families collecting their food. Room 15 is exactly as we left it. Just to remind you here are a couple of pictures. Have a lovely weekend boys and girls! Take care and don't forget to wash those hands. XX Ms Byrne Happy Birthday Annmarie! From everyone in Room 15 we wish you a fun birthday and we're looking forward to celebrating with you when we get back to class! In the meantime everybody enjoy a dance for Annmarie's birthday! XX Art With Annmarie Here is another lovely art idea from our birthday girl Annmarie! It is a chalk drawing of a cherry blossom tree. Of course it was my cherry tree which inspired her! Ha Ha! English I hope you will have a go at the dictation from our timetable with our 'ow' sound. You can pause the video if it is too fast. Here is a roll and read game we've played a lot in school to help you remember some 'ow' words. Instead of colouring the words when you roll the number, you could just read the words on the line of the number you roll. Have a go! You could also try making up a silly sentence using as many of the words as you can. This is my sentence - "The cow took a bow in her gown" OR how about "Wow said the owl and began to howl". Now your turn :- ) And lastly instead of a riddle I'm giving you a tongue twister today.
Mix a box of mixed biscuits with a boxed biscuit mixer (Don't forget you've got to say it really fast. Challenge your family to see who can say it fastest! :-) Chat tomorrow. XX Ms Byrne Hi boys and girls of Room 15! I hope you are getting on ok with the weekly schedule and have found some activities to keep you busy! We don't have our new class email addresses yet but hopefully we'll get them soon! Here are another couple of activities for those of you who gobble up work as I know you do :-) English as we continue with our sound of the week 'ow' here is a lovely short story called 'The Fox and the Owl' Have a go at reading the story and make a list of the 'ow' words you can spot. Have a go at making an 'ow' sentence or story (a nonsense one could be fun?) Remember it doesn't have to make sense! Maths I hope you are remembering your counting activities in the timetable and your Master Your Maths page. Here's an extra little revision for my Room 15 Mathletes :-) You can practice writing your number words, start from 1 one if you like? In part 2 below you can replace the numbers e.g. "10 comes after_" with any other number e.g. "27 comes after_" Enjoy! And lastly a new riddle for you to challenge your family with.
Question Why do bees hum? Answer Because they don't know the words! Chat tomorrow! X Ms Byrne Hi boys and girls! Here are a couple of pictures of the cherry blossom tree in my garden. It is so beautiful at the moment! Today was windy and lots and lots of the pink petals came fluttering down. It almost looked like it was snowing pink flakes. Now the whole garden is carpeted in soft petals. I love Spring! I hope you had a chance to look at the weekly schedule below and the links for the activities are working ok for you. Any issues, let me know in the comments. Our sound of the week is 'ow' saying 'ou'. Here is a fun Alphablocks video with lots of 'ow' words. See how many you can spot, and maybe try writing them down and putting them in a sentence? Here is a riddle for you guys!
Question What has hands but doesn't clap? Answer A clock :-) Do you know any riddles or jokes? I'd love to hear them in the Comments. Bye for now! X Ms Byrne Hi boys and girls. First of all, apologies for a shortened blog yesterday but I had technical problems which cut off the Maths and Fun Activity sections. If we were in school we would be having a half day today so I'll make the activities short for you. Parents, as usual, there is no pressure to complete these activities! Daily Counting Challenge Start from 18 and count forwards to 36, now count backwards to 18. Count from 27 forwards to 43 and count backwards to 27 again. Count in tens from 11 as high as you can go and don't forget to go backwards to 11 again. What number comes after 39? What number comes before 90? What number comes between 29 and 31? What number is one more than 99? What number is one less than 78? What number is two more than 67? What number is two less than 53? Parents you can use these questions with any numbers up to 100. Roll and Add game If you have a pair of dice from any board game this is a fun roll and add Easter game with instructions (open the instructions file below).
English Make an Easter card for your family. If you would like to make one in any other languages to send to grandparents in Latvia, Rumania, The Philipines or Moldova that would be a lovely idea! Don't forget to check where you put your message, it should be on the inside (hold your card like a book to help). You could use one of the lovely pictures Annmarie created on the front (scroll down to some of my previous posts). Fun Activity Join in with our friends on Art Hub for Kids to try out some fun Easter pictures, you could also use. Here's one idea! And here's a little bit of silliness to finish off. For some ideas to keep busy over the Easter holidays scroll down to my previous posts. There are lots of learning ideas on Twinkl, Storyonline, Topmarks for Maths and don't forget to tune in to RTE 2 at 11 a.m. for School TV! Stay safe, wash those hands, dance around when you can! Drop me a comment any time and see you all after Easter! :-) XX Ms Byrne Hi everyone! I forgot to mention yesterday that we have a brand new month, April. Hopefully no one got caught out with any April Fool pranks yesterday :-) Test your calendar knowledge; How many days does April have? What month comes before April? What month comes after April? So, now that we have more signs of Spring happening, here is my news. In my garden we have a bird box and in the last few days a male and female blue tit have started to build their nest in our bird box. I am so excited!! I really hope that after the Easter holidays I'll have more news about how they're getting on. English
Try this comprehension The Nest (remember comprehend means to understand) Have a go at reading the text and answering the questions. You can say OR write the answers Hello again boys and girls! Hope everyone is feeling well and washing those hands! Did you take up my challenge yesterday to help at home? Let me know in the comments if anyone has any helping stories for me. For now here are some more activities for you to try. As always parents/guardians there is NO pressure to complete these they are just some ideas to keep busy :-) Maths Always start with some counting, try: Start at 16 and count to 32 (don't forget to go backwards after) Start at 27 and count to 51 (again always count back to your starting point as well) Master your Maths Here are the next two pages, just write the answers on a page and ask an adult or older sibling to check the answers. English I know everyone is missing their friends while we stay at home so why not write a letter to any/all your friends (one will do)? Don't forget all letters start with Dear XX 1) Tell them some things you've been doing e.g. drawing, playing outside. 2) Tell them what games you will play together when we are back to school. 3) Write about or draw anything else you'd like to share with them. As usual when writing try to use capital letters and full stops and finger spaces between your words which we should tie to the line. Fun Activity If you can find a box/bag at home why not play What's in the Box? with someone in your family. Remember don't use anything too delicate and ask an adult before you use an item that's not yours. Explain to your family that you can only answer yes or no to their questions. Enjoy! Art with Annmarie Here is another lovely, and simple, drawing idea Annmarie has done to inspire us. Isn't it super cute! Have a go! Don't forget to tune in to RTE 2 at 11 a.m. if you can for 'School TV'. The first episode got rave reviews from my nieces and nephews yesterday!
Chat tomorrow and do your best for your parents and guardians. I know you will. Leave me a comment if you can. XX Ms Byrne |
