In English I hope you are getting on well with the 'oy' sound and starting to figure out which words say 'oi' and which say 'oy'. It can be tricky but try to remember that if the sound comes at the end of the word it's usually 'oy'. Here is a roll and read for our sound of the week 'oy'. We've played this a lot in school. Instead of colouring the words when you roll the number, you could just read the words on the line of the number you roll. Have a go! If you don't know the meaning of a word ask an adult to help you look it up in a dictionary (there are lots online if you don't have one.) As usual make up some silly sentences too :-)
And finally our Joke of the Day

When I was a little girl growing up in Mayo, it was traditional to pick these flowers called Primroses and to spread them out on the doorstep to celebrate May Day or Bealtaine. This marked the start of summer on the farm. I also remember my granny telling me the flowers would keep the fairies out of the house. Watch out for the flowers when you are out walking. There are lots of lovely blossoms everywhere. I hope you enjoyed learning your spellings this week! If you have someone who is free to ask you them, here is the list. Remember just have a go and don't worry about getting everything right :-) Bain triail as! Art I found this lovely lesson from our friends in Art Hub. It might be nice to draw the health care worker and put it up in your window with a little message to thank them for taking care of all of us and working so hard. Some of us have health care workers at home who we can be proud of. We in room 15 would like to say Thank You! And to finish off here's a song that reminds me of Golden Time in Room 15 - a real favourite which always inspires lots of great moves! This version has the lyrics (words). Happy Bank Holiday weekend boys and girls! Have a rest from school work on Monday to play with your families. Chat soon! XX Ms Byrne Hi boys and girls. You're in for a treat! Here is Daniel, his brothers and his Mam speaking about one of our favourite authors in Room 15, Oliver Jeffers. How wonderful! Watch out for some of Oliver Jeffers' key messages about kindness in his books; Be kind to our planet! Be kind to ourselves! Be kind to each other! We are so proud of you Daniel! Well done to you and your amazing family! This video will also be shown on the 'The Student's Say' tab on the website too. I hope you are getting on well with the money topic in Maths. Here is a presentation showing you how to use the interactive games for this that I mentioned yesterday. There are 3 great games. The actual links in the file aren't working for some reason so instead just google; top marks coins game top marks toy shop money game top marks coconut ordering game choose 'prices' and the € symbol at the bottom. Note - as it says in the instructions in the file for each game click on the European flag to select Euro (it's the blue one with the yellow circle of stars). Have fun!
For English I hope you have tried some of the tricky word quizzes in our timetable. These are great for reminding us of those words which can't be sounded out to read them. For our sound of the week 'ou' we know from last week that some words use 'ow' to make this sound. Here is a list of words with the sounds some using 'ou' and some using 'ow'. Try to read them and make some sentences.
Finally for our Joke of the Day Joke Question - What do sea monsters eat? Answer - Fish and ships :-) Tongue Twister Left let, right leg, red leg, yellow leg. Hi everyone. I hope you are enjoying our new timetable (scroll down to Monday's page). Our sound of the week is 'ou', make sure to watch Ms Shannon's great video giving lots of examples. Here' a little further help. Make a list of the 'ou' words you hear in the video below and, as usual, try making some 'ou' word sentences.
