The time has come for out Winter Walk and we are sooooo excited. All the parents came along with us and we had a great time singing songs along the way. We also had special winter hats to wear!!!
The aim of this experiment was to reuse recycled materials to create shelters for the eggs. We needed to keep the eggs safe. We used fake eggs to check if it would work and not fall out first, then it was time to test them. The preparationThe CreationsThe TeamsThe DropThe Classroom Window DropThis week we had Science Week in school, in our classroom we completed three experiments. 1. Skittles 2. Candle in a glass 3. Egg Drop (will be in separate Blog Post) We completed 1+2 in two groups, a group with Fiona and a group with teacher. These were experiments we watched teacher do and we discussed the results. The third experiment we split up into groups of 3 to complete the project. Then we tested all the shelters made at 1m, 2m and then from the classroom window! The excitement levels were very high all day today! The Results: A Rainbow of ColoursNext up we saw what happens to a candle when you cover it with a glass and then what happens when a candle is in a bowl with water and a glass is placed over it! We wrote and drew about our findings. Ms. McDonnell kindly asked us would we do a Winter Walk Prep, where we would complete the walk while taking pictures of our surrounding areas so we could draw maps for the rest of the school when we got back. Thankfully we had some amazing parents volunteer to walk with us despite it being FREEZING!!! We made sure to take note of all the buildings we passed and what directions we needed to remember to draw into our maps! While learning about 2D shapes we went on a shape hunt on yard! As you can see the children had loads of fun and got plenty of exercise!!!! |
