Good morning everybody, I hope you all had a lovely Tuesday and enjoyed yesterday’s blog. I had a lot of technical issues and it took the entire day for my videos to load so I was delighted when they finally did.

Maths

For today’s introduction to maths, below you will find a video for skip counting in 2’s and 10’s, I also started teaching skip counting in 5’s. Then we are also going to practice something new which is our doubles. E.g 1+1=2, 2+2=4, 3+3=6 etc.
Now for the written part of our maths, today we are focusing on data. This is revision as we have completed lots in class about data. Below you will find multiple options, pick and choose which you would like to do. These can lol be completed on a blank page, you would just need to draw an apple and then colour 4 boxes beside it for example.

Happy Tuesday everybody, apologies yesterday some of my videos would not load so I didn’t get to upload my calendar and other subject videos. Hopefully you got on ok without them.
We are very lucky as Ms. Callan and Ms. Fallon have made us videos of some lovely stories. Ms. Callan is reading a story called "Be Gentle" by Virginia Miller and Ms. Fallon is reading the story "The Tiger Who Came to Tea" by Judith Kerr. I am going to link them below for you to listen too. ENJOY 😄

Happy Monday everybody and welcome to another week of school at home. You are all doing amazing things at home and I know it’s difficult and you probably miss seeing your friends faces everyday, so maybe you could write them a comment on the blogs and they can send you a message back too.

For maths today, we are going to revise our days of the week and months of the year. I would like you to practice your skip counting in 2’s to 20 and 10’s to 100. Then we are going to be doing some word problems. The trick with word problems is to either draw a picture to show what is being asked or use real life objects to help you.

Now let’s get some workout exercising in!
To finish off our movement break a little Run Red Carpet!

Story Online

This is a story we have listened to in class a few times. This time we are going to do a little activity where we create our own monsters for under the bed and will think of all the adjectives (describing words) that go with them. Have a look at the pictures below for some ideas. All you need is a blank page and your imagination, don’t forget to give your monster a name.

Happy Friday everybody!!! Hope you got through the first week back ok. So my plan for future weeks is to upload the children’s work on Fridays this gives you the week to take photos of anything they have done and I will upload them into a Wow work blog post. Just in case you are waiting for photos to go up.😄☺️ I apologise I’ve been very bad at replying to emails I will get back to everybody today!! I read them all and love hearing how everybody is getting on!

🎶🎵let’s start the morning with a song 🎶🎵

Wow work from this week

I get sent so many fabulous pictures of all the amazing things you guys are doing At home. It is so lovely to see the class working so hard, it does not matter if it’s work from the website or different activities you have set them, everybody is doing fabulous work and I am so proud of each and every one of you! Well done Room 10 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Today we are going to begin learning about all types of homes, there are lots of different types of houses, have a look at the pictures down below and discuss the differences between them all. Have a guess at where in the world you think theses houses might be found.
This is a story about a kid who dreams up the most amazing house. Get ready for a room to blast off!
After that story I think we should dream up some of our own ideas about amazing house and try drawing them. These ideas can be as imaginative as you like and definitely do not have to realistic. Below our just a few ideas to get you started. All you need is a blank page and your imagination. 💡
Now we are going to make a map of our own houses/homes, making a floor plan. A floor plan can be of any part of your house. Below I’ve made a video of how I drew my floor plan.

Story Time

Have a lovely weekend everybody. You did great work this week. See you all on Monday. 😃

Let’s practice our counting to 30, doing forget to practise your skip counting in 2’s to 20 and 10’s to 100.
Below are some links to the Planet Maths online interactive games, relating to weight and capacity. These may or may not work as I had to log in but if they don’t work go to Folens online and sign in. Then search for Planet Maths and press resources instead of ebook. You will be able to find the activities then. I’ve used both the senior infants and the 1st class activities as they are well able for both games.

I hope you are practising your Tricky words at home, I’ve made a new set with different colours so hope this hasn’t confused you. I’ll be posting these videos each day to remind us to practice them. Some days I’ll say the words with you and some days I won’t. 😃

Writing task choice board

Hello everybody, so this is a new activity and it is for our writing. As we are not in school we aren’t getting a chance to practise our free writing or our formal writing lessons because of this I have created a writing choice board. I am asking that on a Wednesday you pick one activity to do as part of your work for that day. You may want to spend longer on them and that’s ok too. I look forward to seeing what you create. ☺️ As always you can use the suggested templates or use blank plates or a copy book.😃

Hello everybody in Room 10 and welcome back to the third term of school. We are unfortunately still doing school from home but that’s ok. I hope you all had a nice break, got to relax a bit and enjoy the nice weather. You might notice a few changes to our daily blog but I will explain them as we go. I’m very happy to be back to work, while I had a lovely break doing very little 😄 I missed you all!😊

Daily Dictation

This is the first change, we are going back to our daily dictation. Here I will call out 5 words based on our phonic sounds and then 1 sentence using some key tricky words. Parents as you all know the children in Room 10 have been doing great work at dictation in class so they should be well able to do this. There are two ways you can do this, print out the page provided and this will have all the days on it or use a blank page and number it, you can then press play and I will call out the words (pause any time you need more time) or parents you can call out the words from the answer page I’ve provided.

Parents, for the sentence writing there is some focused work on Tricky Words, below you will find a document containing flash cards of all the TW in case you have lost your set from the Homework Folders. You may place the focus TW on the table so the children can spell these and sound out the rest of the sentence. This gives them a chance to practise writing the TW a couple of times and help them spell it.

Handwriting

The next new thing will be a daily handwriting letter, this is to finish off the Capital Letters we have been learning. I have made a booklet for the children based off the books we have in school, again though feel free to do this on a blank page if you do not have access to a printer. ☺️ Today’s letter is nice and easy, the letter O. Please see the video below on how to form the letter O.

Readers

As we have not been in school the children have not been getting readers, so this release from Folens is brilliant. They have released ebooks and interactive books for all their big cat readers. How to sign in for these is in the picture below and you can pick the coloured level your child is able for.
Picture

Story Time

As I will explain in the video tomorrow story time has also had a bit of a change, we are now starting work on some novels by one of my favourite authors Roald Dahl. Now I know a lot of children may have already read them but that’s doesn’t matter (I’ve read them loads too😁). This means on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I will be reading chapters from our first novel George’s Marvellous Medicine. Then on Friday I will read a picture book like before. I hope you enjoy 😁
Picture

Maths

Today’s maths is pure revision to get us all back into the school routine. Try as many as you can or want to do below.

Today I would like you to just play the story for the children a few times and see can they from the pictures retell it in English. We will be looking at this story in detail on Tuesday so don’t worry about any words they do not know. 😄 the story is called "An Lacha Ghránna" which means The Ugly Duckling.

Easter

As it is the Easter holidays and there will be no formal school, this might be a great time to practice some life skills. Teach your kids how to tie their laces, work on reading the clock, plant some seeds and do some gardening learn to knit, experiment with cooking or baking. Maybe they could practise writing letters to loved ones they cannot see like their grandparents or it might simply be rediscover the joys of reading. Set a reading challenge how many books can you read (this is one I for sure am going to do).
The most important thing to do is to enjoy your time together, without any stress of school. If you need anything from me at all just let me know.
Happy Easter everybody! 😄🐣💐
