This week everything has turned super spooky in Rm 5! As Halloween draws nearer we have been practicing our magic potions and of course dropping into the witch's costume shop to make a few purchases!

Below is a snap shot of some of our morning work stations.

This week we made Fireworks Play-doh! It was sooo much fun and super easy to make! Maybe you could try making it at home, it's cheap and easy and lasts for ages!

Here's how we made it...
Add the flour

Add salt.

Add Cream of Tartar

Add vegetable oil.

And the magic ingredients... Colour and sparkle!!!

Add about 1.5 cups of boiling water and mix...
It will start really sticky but as you knead it with your hands, it will cool and come together in a nice soft ball!

Well done to all the girls and boys. They were so well behaved during this messy task! I hope you enjoy going it a try at home. Remember to keep it in the fridge when not using it.

To finish off this weeks blog I want to introduce you to this lovely book we've been reading, 'Silly Billy'. While most of the time our little ones are super happy they do at times have their little worries that to them can seem very big. So did Billy until his clever grandma gave him some little worry dolls who he could share his troubles with before bedtime and then place them under his pillow while he slept. Billy was sleeping like a log in no time!! After experimenting with some sample dolls myself, I now have a very long order list... it seems like they all have worries now!! lol

Happy Weekend,

Ms. Murray

Well Done Sean! Make sure you let know how your play doh making goes! You can experiment with adding some different smells (spices and oils)

Layla found it hard deciding between making the fireworks play dough and the Halloween shop. But we think the play dough just about wins... Great work everybody. We really enjoy looking at the pics & vids each week.

Ms. Murray, I said from the start that this blog is a fantastic idea and a brilliant way to see what the children have been up to during each week :)
The Halloween week's video is very nicely edited.
All the posted videos and pics are fun to watch.
As some of the children have grandparents outside Ireland this blog is a very good way to show them how their grandchildren educate through fun school activities (even if for some of grandparents it's only through pictures or videos).
The recipe for the play-doh is defo something I need to try to make at home :)
Keep up the good work going and make videos and pictures coming through this blog.

Thanks for the lovely comment. I'm absolutely thrilled to hear that our blog is being viewed by grandparents who are living abroad! It is so lovely for them to have an opportunity to feel part of their grandchild's learning. They will be able to chat all about their school when they Skype! Great Stuff!

Thanks for the comment. The children also love to look back on their work and it really get them self evaluating what they've been learning.
