Hello everybody and welcome back. It has been a busy few weeks for us all!!! Not only have we been so busy being back to school and doing lots of fun activities and work. We also have been in the process of moving classrooms. 😁😁
When we got back to school it was very confusing as we were in our old classroom Room 10 but now we are first class so we are called Room 14. 😃 while in room 10 we did lots of art, reading, writing and of course lots of playful learning. Below are some photos of the work we have done and us in the classroom.
We decided to make use of the fabulous sunshine so we took our maths and reading lessons outside. We went on a shapehunt around the yard to see all the places maths can be once we start looking. Then we had some DEAR TIME OUTSIDE. (Drop Everything And Read).
Last Thursday we were really lucky and we got to go to the park with Mairead Stack. We went on a nature walk all around Albert College Park. It was a lovely day and we had so much fun looking for signs of Autumn, we collected some leaves to do some leaf rubbings when we got back to class.
Last Friday we got word we could go see our new classroom, so the excitement was very real!!! The classroom was still empty at this point but still was so nice to be in it. Then it was teachers job to move all of our furniture, toys and books to our new classroom. This took a very long time but by the end of Friday the classroom was ready for us on Monday.
I will be taking a video of the new classroom to post here so that all the parents can get a look inside too!!!!
End of Year Video
Welcome to our last Week of online learning, I would like to say well done to all of Room 10 for such amazing work and I would like to thank all the parents for their hard work over these past few months, we would not have been able to get through this strange time without you all.
Virtual School Tour
Unfortunately this year the children missed out on their school tour which is really sad as it’s the nicest time of year. So I thought it would be fun to have a virtual school tour to a Zoo. Not just any zoo for this school tour we will be travelling to another country. Below I have posted our ticket 😊 and some videos that they provided for us to look at. The website also has lots of other videos and live webcams too. I hope the children enjoy this experience. Also if you want to get to Dublin Zoo during the summer make sure you book your slot. 😃
While you watch the videos from Melbourne zoo I want you to be thinking of some of these questions to answer and try and pick your favourite animal from Melbourne Zoo. 😍
There was so many keeper talks to choose from, I only have picked three below but feel free to watch all the videos on their website.
They have so many live camera feeds on their website it is worth a visit. I’ve linked below just the penguin one but if you look they have a,so saved loads of live streams too.
For maths this week, I have provided a Summer Code Breaker for the children to complete and I did a video that explains how it works. If you haven’t finished your maths books you can pick some if this to do as well,
Time for some counting.
This week for Irish we are moving on to our last topic of Summer, An trá all about the beach. I have linked a video with the new vocab for the children and the Bua na Cainte videos too. We will also be doing a tasc éisteachta which is a listening one.

Video 1 can be found on the news page and down below which will have a warm up and part 1 of dance, video 2 to come later will revise part 1 and introduce part 2 and video 3 will revise 1+2 and introduce part 3. Ms. Thomas would love if you would all take part. Enjoy your dancing, the first video is nice and easy for you all.

So I managed to find the recording of Mac Barnett reading the book Chloe and the Lion and he definitely reads it better than I did, so if you like the story listen again down below to his version with some awesome impressions. All of Mac Barnet’s books are on his Instagram tv including his novel series which are amazing I highly reccomend checking them out. I think I will be buying quite a few new books for my library! 😀
This weeks maths activity is from the Assessment booklet which is the grey one. I would like the class to complete the end of June or Summer Assessment. It is a very short assessment so should take them no time at all.

Important Video for Parents explaining the Weekly Blog
Please watch the video below to explain the new weekly layout. This is to help you plan your week and allow free choice of what to do each week. Some days the children will want to do lots of work and other days not so much, this is normal and to be expected at this stage of school at home. Don’t worry if some days you get very little done! I hope seeing in advance the whole weeks layout will allow you to pick and choose what suits you best. If you have any questions ask in the comments below or send me an email to Ms.McCarthy@olvinfants.com
Let’s celebrate with Zoe!!
I hope you will all join me in Room 10 in wishing Zoe a happy birthday. Yesterday she celebrated her birthday with her family. 🎈🎂 it looks like she had a fantastic day and looked very happy! 😊😃
Below you find all the videos for dictation for this week, as I said last week this is a different type of dictation because it is the last part of dictation for the class in Senior Infants. Each day there are 12 words now in class we used to complete 10 words a day but online we have only completed 5, so the choice is yours. You can choose to do 6 words each day and continue dictation to next week, or do all 12 or do 6 in morning and 6 in the afternoon. The decision is yours!! Well done everybody in competing Dictation in Senior Infants.
Story Time for the week
Below you will find 4 videos of story time for this week, two read by myself and two from YouTube. Pick which story you would like to listen to each day. Enjoy! 📚📚
Time to revise our Tricky Words. If you have your sound books at home make sure to practise your sounds as well!!

For handwriting this week I would like the children to focus on the revision pages. I have posted the video from last week again to remind you which pages I am talking about.
